Giving the arts and artistes the centrestage

Invoking Saraswati to project the
multifarious arts of the world

The annual Delhi International Arts Festival (DIAF) attracts artistes, writers, connoisseurs and tourists from all over the world and serves as a significant platform for all forms of art. To capture the spirit of the festival, keeping in mind that it is an Indian festival that hosts global artistes and that it encompasses varied arts such as film, art, theatre, music, dance, literature, to name a few, was a challenge.

After batting a few ideas around, we decided that Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, music, arts, wisdom and learning, would be a befitting symbol for the festival. But with a twist – a highly stylised graphic of the goddess holding icons representing the different arts showcased in the festival in her various hands. A dark, earthy brick-red was chosen as the logo colour to reinforce the Indian-ness of the logo unit.
